Introducing an extraordinary 100% Xinomavro, a wine with a deep heritage and a bold character. Chronos 2018 is the Argyrakis family's hidden gem, crafted with exceptional care by reducing crop yield to just 500 kg per hectare in a select vineyard in Naoussa. The meticulous selection of grapes and traditional winemaking techniques—featuring higher fermentation temperatures and extended extraction—have resulted in a wine built for longevity, capable of ageing gracefully for 15-20 years.
Aged for an impressive 28 months in French oak barrels, followed by several years of bottle ageing, Chronos 2018 promises an unparalleled tasting experience, capturing the true essence of Naoussa's Xinomavro.
Tasting Notes
This refined Xinomavro showcases captivating aromas of sun-dried tomatoes, ripe blackberries, liquorice, and warm spices, underpinned by a delicate earthiness. On the palate, it reveals a rich, structured body, with firm yet beautifully integrated tannins and a lingering, complex finish. A wine of remarkable depth, Chronos 2018 is a true representation of Naoussa’s winemaking tradition, offering an experience that unfolds beautifully over time.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The bold structure and layered complexity of Chronos 2018 make it a perfect companion to slow-braised meats like lamb shank or beef stew, where its tannins and acidity harmonise with rich, savoury flavours. It also pairs wonderfully with game dishes, truffle-infused risottos, and aged cheeses such as Manchego, Comté, or mature Pecorino. For a more traditional pairing, enjoy it alongside classic Greek dishes like lamb kleftiko or veal stifado, where its deep, spicy notes enhance the dish’s warmth and depth.
