An exquisite 100% Aglianico, grown in a small, espalier-trained (Guyot) vineyard of about 1 hectare located at 300 meters above sea level in the hilly Taburno subzone, near the municipality of Ponte. The calcareous soil, with its stony structure, ensures excellent water and oxygen permeability, making it ideal for viticulture. This careful cultivation results in a yield of less than 70 quintals per hectare.
Tasting Notes
This Aglianico displays an intense and dark ruby-red colour. The nose reveals delicate hints of red fruit, cherries, and blackberries, complemented by overtones of tobacco, toastiness, and subtle notes of vanilla, followed by a delightful after-aroma of cherry jam. On the palate, it offers a concentrated, soft, and well-orchestrated taste, with a mature and elegant tannic structure. The wine enters the mouth generously, providing a gratifying experience with tightly knit and elegant tannins and a lingering finish. Enjoy the rich and refined qualities of this exceptional Aglianico.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The bold and structured nature of this 100% Aglianico makes it an excellent pairing for rich, savoury dishes. Its deep fruit flavours and refined tannins beautifully complement slow-cooked meats such as braised beef, lamb shank, and wild boar ragu. The wine’s subtle tobacco and toasty notes pair wonderfully with chargrilled ribeye steak or roasted duck, while its balanced acidity makes it a great match for tomato-based pasta dishes, such as beef lasagne or spaghetti alla puttanesca. Aged cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino Toscano, or matured Gouda, also highlight the wine’s complexity. For a traditional pairing, enjoy it with Neapolitan-style lamb with herbs and garlic, allowing the Aglianico’s intensity and depth to shine. Best served slightly decanted, this wine is perfect for slow meals and special occasions.
